Hawk tuah girl cryptocurrency lawsuit
Internet star Haliey Welch, also known as the “Hawk Tuah Girl,” said Friday she is “fully cooperating” with attorneys who are representing people impacted by the recent crash of crypto meme coin $HAWK.
The lawsuit did not directly name Welch, but instead claimed her social media following had been used to market the coin by defendants including Tuah The Moon Foundation, which oversaw the memecoin’s finances; OverHere Ltd, which created the coin; Clinton So, executive at OverHere; and the coin’s promoter Alex Larson Schultz.
Memecoins, which rely on cultural references and online fandoms to gain traction, are accessible and have a low barrier to create, investors said, adding that Welch’s ‘frenzied’ marketing of the token added to its raised appeal.
Welch then provided a link to a form that affected investors can fill out on the website of cryptocurrency litigator Burwick Law, the firm that is representing the plaintiffs suing the creators of $HAWK.
